Basil Apple Cider

Square Roots | 10.18.19

Letting the aroma of warm apple cider float through your house doesn’t require hours over a hot stove—just a jug of store-bought cider and some fresh basil.

Basil Apple Cider

  • 1 liter of your favorite spiced apple cider

  • 1-2 packs of Square Roots basil

  • Cinnamon sticks, orange wedges, or apple slices for garnish

Yield: 4 cups (about 8 servings)

  1. Warm apple cider in a saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Add fresh basil to the pan and reduce heat to infuse. Simmer for 5-10 minutes without letting the cider boil.

  3. Strain cider into mugs, or keep on the stovetop over low heat.

  4. Serve warm with a stick of cinnamon, orange wedge, or apple slices.

Next-Level Tips
  • Throw in fresh Square Roots mint for added herbiness.

  • Cool in the fridge, and serve chilled for a more refreshing take.

  • Spike with rum or whiskey for extra warmth.
